Talk:Glasgow, West Virginia

Glass company?

Now I've never been to West Virginia in my life so my local knowledge is pretty limited but wouldn't it be possible its named after the large city in Scotland rather than a glass company? Especially since it is actually spelled "Glasgow" like the UK city and not "Glassco" or anything. However like I say I know nothing about this place but it just seems funny to me that it would be called Glasgow and for there to be no connection. Maybe someone should check this out? This is exactly what I was going to write! I'm actually studying right now for a presentation on the etymology of the name of my home city, Glasgow in Scotland. There are lots of other US towns that derive their names from the Scottish Glasgow (just do a search) and it seems highly likely to me that it's the same with this one. I'll definitely be mentioning this in my presentation though! ---Emma fae Glasgow (not Glassco)
