Glassware

Glassware may include all objects made of glass, glass containers or just glass tableware. Some objects that are considered glassware when made out of glass include:

  • Drinkware, vessels for drinking that are often made out of glass
    • Stemware, drinkware that stands on stems above a base, usually made out of glass
      • Wine glass, a type of glass stemware which is used for serving wine
      • Champagne flute, a piece of stemware with a tall, narrow bowl on top that is used for serving champagne
      • Chalice (cup), an ornate piece of stemware, especially one used for ceremonial purposes
      • Cocktail glass, a narrow drinking glass having a stem and a wide, shallow, inverted cone that is used for serving cocktails
      • Snifter, a short-stemmed glass whose main vessel has a wide bottom but that narrows at the top that is used for serving liquor
  • Pitcher (container), a container with a spout for pouring its contents
  • Vase, an open container, often used to hold cut flowers
  • Laboratory glassware, a variety of equipment, traditionally made of glass, used for scientific experiments
  • Art glass, glassware that is modern art
  • Art marble, a high quality collectible marble arising out of the art glass movement
