[edit] photo licenses

Hi,

Thanks for the streetcar photos. Could you please add the appropriate license tag? I think GFDL-self is what you're looking for.

Thanks - Tempshill 14:42, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:DeutchBahn-ACloco.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DeutchBahn-ACloco.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use article name or fairuse. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Yonge-Buildings.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yonge-Buildings.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Admrboltz (T | C) 18:29, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging

You need to tag all your images, or reviewers less nice than myself :-) will delete them all preemptorily. I just add a "GFDL-presumed" at Image:T1-SubwayCarINSIDE.jpg, but your contribution list [1] shows a bunch more that need them, so please tag them as soon as possible. Thanks! [edit] Help with Copyright Tags

Hey there! From reading through your page above it seems you have failed to add appropriate copyright tags onto a number of images which you have uploaded to Wikipedia. That's a real shame, since images such as Image:BC-QuadSnow.jpg, taken by yourself, would make a good contribution to the encyclopedia, and risk being deleted (indeed, some of the images listed above now have been). All you need to do is to add one of the appropriate tags from Wikipedia:Image copyright tags to the image description page. If it is an image you have created yourself, and you are happy for anyone to use it, then I would suggest PD-self or GFDL would be appropriate. Feel free to ask any questions by posting on my talk page if I can help. Thanks, UkPaolo/talk 16:32, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image formatting

Hello there, after leaving the last message, I proceeded to check through some of your contributions. My, it seems like you've been a busy shutter bug. However, I am coming to express a concern for the formatting of your images when you place them in an article. Since you appear to be new-ish here, let me explain:

Usually when there is only one image in a section, we place it at the start of the header, for example:

Blah Blah
When there are two or more images, please do this:
Blah Blah
It is also standard to wiki link within the images, since many people look at the images before they read the content, thus:

Also, please make sure that horizontal images are at the standard 250px while vertical images are somewhere around 220px. A period after the text in the image descriptor is also great!

Thanks so much, and keep up the great image contributions! Páll (Die pienk olifant) 09:10, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:NJT-Arrow-Pantographs.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:NJT-Arrow-Pantographs.JPG. [edit] Hello from an ex-Bostonian and ex-New Yorker!

Hi there! Well, the thing is that I don't live in the US anymore. I moved back to Moscow almost a year ago and have no regrets about it whatsoever. Here in Russia, life is so rich with events, relaxed and enjoyable, unlike in NY, which I couldn't stand (my last year there especially). I miss Boston though and all the fun I had there with international students (mostly Ukrainian). I'd like to visit it again someday. Ask whatever questions you have about Boston or NY or Wikipedia :). Happy editing! KNewman 12:49, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: How are you, Railfan?

Hello! I just wanted to say thanks for the greeting and letting me know about Mike's wonderful TTC website. If you're working on articles on particular trams in SPb, that's great! Make sure you link to them from the Tramways in Saint Petersburg page once those articles are complete; maybe I could help you out as well. As you see, my article on tramway service in SPb is still a work in progress, and a lot needs to be done, so you're welcome to help out. I'll try to finish the history section soon, if I have time. - Canwolf 21:24, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the O-Train fleet were built as part of an order for Deutsche Bahn — they’re superior in a number of ways to the usual passenger trains in Canada. I’m glad you liked the photograph. David Arthur 15:40, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Add it to Wikiversity? Hmmmmm... I don't know. I thought there was lots of good encyclopedia-type info on your page. It seems to me the better solution is make it all read like an encyclopedia article, and then add enough links to it on other pages so that they will take off that tag. Wikipedia has a policy against including "original" materials, so it will require some work to make sure that all available citations are included in the right places. As far as Wikiversity goes, I don't know anything at all about their standards, policies and aims. Maybe you should copy the content over there and see what happens. But don't delete it from Wikipedia.

Good luck on your final.

[edit] Photos of Lomená Street

Hi, GK tramrunner! According to your wish I've taken some fifty photos and three very short (and poor) videos of Lomená Street. The weather wasn't much favourable on the last Sunday here, mostly overcast, but better than nothing. Now I ask, what to do with those images? It's about 60 MB total, which is not very comfortable for a man with a low-speed GPRS connection like me. :-) What do you need it for? I would also need your e-mail address. Пока! --Miaow Miaow 23:55, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I never went to New Utrecht High School. I started the article after writing one about Barbara Grizzuti Harrison, who was a student there in the 1950s. I knew that a lot of famous people had gone to the school, so I was surprised that it didn't have an article already. I grew up in West Virginia, which is very different from New York!

I hope you get to visit London one day. It's a very interesting city. I have not been to Aachen, but I have visited Berlin and Munich. I would like to visit more of central and eastern Europe -- so far I have only made one brief trip to Poland. I'm part Ukrainian myself; my great-grandmother was an ethnic Ukrainian from Przemyśl.

I did make a few of the userboxes on my page myself (the spaghetti, Aubrey-Maturin and environmentalist boxes, for example), but I'm afraid most of the stuff on there is copied from other people!

Your photographs of Brooklyn are very good. I hope you plan to contribute more to Wikipedia in future.

[edit] Welcome to WP:NYCPT!

Welcome! We are glad to see another user take park in our project. As we are still working hard after 2+ years, yet, we are glad to see more people helping us. Remember to try to engage in discussions we hold to reach a consensus, which is a form of agreement via discussion. It helps, and it is for the best for the project and us. Anyway, thanks, and again, welcome. --Imdanumber1 (talk contribs) 00:55, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Enthusiasm

I appreciate your enthusiasm about the New York City Subway. However, try to keep things relevant to the wikiproject. As you may see its past discussions on its talk page, that is what is kinda expected, okay? --Imdanumber1 (talk contribs) 08:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

P.S. Your biography seems pretty interesting, as you've left on my talk page.
