Gjp23 (real name Greg) is a researcher in physics studying the computational modelling of photonic crystal fibres at the Institute of Optics, Information and Photonics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nuremberg (a Max Planck research group). He currently lives in Erlangen, having previously lived in Stafford, Cambridge and Bath.

His interests include cycling, classical music, real ale, and industrial and scientific history. He used to work at Claverton Pumping Station.
