Giuseppe Spataro

Giuseppe Spataro (12 June 1897 - 17 October 1978) was an Italian politician and government minister.

Born in Vasto, he studied jurisprudence in Rome, and joined the FUCI (Federation of Catholic University Students), becoming it's president during his time as a student. Involved in politics at a young age, he joined the Partito Popolare Italiano started by Luigi Sturzo, and became the party's national vice-secretary.

During the Fascist period in Italy, he helped with the party's preparations for the restoration of democracy. He participated in the Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale and played an important part in the foundation of the Italian Christian Democratic Party.

After the war he held a number of important government positions: he was undersecretary to the council president, as well as many other positions.

He died in Rome in 1978.
