GITR

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

GITR (glucocorticoid-induced TNF receptor) is a surface receptor molecule that has been shown to be involved in inhibiting the suppressive activity of T-regulatory cells and extending the survival of T-effector cells.

Some research is believed that stimulation of GITR with a monoclonal antibody will break T-regulatory cell mediated tolerogenic immune responses to tumor and viral antigens allowing the development of anti-tumor and anti-viral T-effector cell classical immune responses.[citation needed]
