The sleeve of Girlfriend in a Coma by The Smiths (single, August 1987). Cover star: British playwright Shelagh Delaney. Apart from the title track, the single included B-sides Work is a Four-Letter Word (a cover of a Cilla Black song) and I Keep Mine Hidden (twelve inch edition only), the last song ever written or recorded by The Smiths.
Girlfriend in a Coma was the lead single off the band's fourth album, Strangeways, Here We Come, and reached #13 in the British charts. Douglas Coupland named his 1998 book of the same title after the song.
