Girls Bravo (GIRLSブラボー Gārusu Burabō?) is a bishōjo manga (2000) and anime (2004) created by Mario Kaneda (まりお金田?). The anime series is licensed and distributed in North America by Geneon Entertainment, while TOKYOPOP publishes the manga. In Singapore, the manga is published by Chuang Yi.
The anime ran for two seasons: the first season with 11 episodes and the second season with 13 episodes. The series is usually considered a typical fan service harem anime. The TV broadcast of season 1 became infamous due to its relatively conservative broadcasting. Most of the objectionable content was censored with shadowing, steam, and digital editing. The TV broadcast of season 2 and DVD versions of both seasons did not have the censoring. The series ran mostly at very late nights.

[edit] Synopsis
Girls Bravo features a young male student named Yukinari Sasaki (佐々木雪成 Sasaki Yukinari?) who was teased and bullied by girls to the point that he developed an allergic reaction, breaking out in hives whenever he comes into contact with a female. One day, when he comes back from school, he falls into the bathtub and gets transported to Seiren, a mysterious world with an almost entirely female population.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Major characters
- Yukinari Sasaki (佐々木雪成 Sasaki Yukinari?) is, in most ways, a normal young man, living alone; however, due to repeated teasing and bullying from girls, he has developed an allergic reaction that causes him to break out with rashes whenever he comes into contact with a female. One day, he falls in his bathtub and is transported to the female world of Seiren, where he meets Miharu–the first girl who doesn't cause him to break out on contact. Yukinari has a bad habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This, along with other 'close encounters' get him kicked, punched and otherwise beaten up by Kirie.
- Voiced by Mamiko Noto (Japanese)/Yuri Lowenthal (English)
- Kirie Kojima (小島桐絵 Kojima Kirie?), Yukinari's neighbor, is also a classmate of his and takes care of him from time to time. She is particularly well-endowed, which makes her a natural target for Kazuharu Fukuyama's perverted actions; however, due to her physical aptitude and pro-wrestling abilities, she often manages to turn the tables on Fukuyama. Also unfortunately, she sometimes punishes Yukinari for his 'perverted' actions. In truth they happen on accident and not on purpose.
- Voiced by Chiwa Saito (Japanese)/Lulu Chiang (English)
- Miharu Sena Kanaka (ミハル・セナ・カナカ?) is a resident of Seiren and is the one who pulled Yukinari to that world. She has a mark shaped like three dots in a triangular arrangement on her forehead; it provides her with several powers, such as the ability to transfer between Seiren and Earth and the power to create explosions at will, and when she sneezes. She is also the only female that can touch Yukinari without triggering his allergy. Miharu has an outrageous appetite and its amazing how she can eat so much and maintain her girlish figure. She spends most of the series questioning her friends whether something is edible or not (like butterflies).
- Voiced by Ayako Kawasumi (Japanese)/Michelle Ruff (English)
- Kazuharu Fukuyama (福山和春 Fukuyama Kazuharu?), a classmate of Yukinari and Kirie, is rich, powerful, and perverted. While he often chases girls and picks on Yukinari (who he nicknames "Chibi-nari"), he does show a serious, caring side in critical situations. He has an allergic reaction that causes him to break out with rashes whenever he comes into contact with a male.
- Voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu (Japanese)/Liam O'Brien (English)
- Lisa Fukuyama (福山リサ Fukuyama Risa?), Kazuharu's younger sister, is a master of black magic and is attended to by Hayate and Kosame. She has an infatuation with Yukinari, much to Kirie's dismay, and often employs her abilities to try and get closer to him. Although she dislikes Tomoka at times, she is very fond of Ebi.
- Voiced by Yuki Matsuoka (Japanese)/Hunter MacKenzie Austin (English)
- Koyomi Hare Nanaka (コヨミ・ハレ・ナナカ?), a resident of Seiren, is rather shy and timid towards men; unfortunately for her, she is also one of Kazuharu's favorite targets. Originally sent to Earth on a mission from the Space Travel Agency to 'retrieve' Miharu, she lives in Yukinari's house on a prolonged mission to find Maharu, Miharu's sister, a groom. Interestingly enough, Koyomi is also a 5-time Ping Pong Champion on her home planet.
- Voiced by Masayo Kurata (Japanese)/Carrie Savage (English)
- Tomoka Lana Jude (トモカ・ラナ・ジュード Tomoka Rana Jūdo?), a resident of Seiren, who was sent along with Koyomi to find Maharu a groom. She is a child, but resents being treated as one, insisting that she's as mature as anyone else. She carries around a pet who was accidentally transported with her, whom they named Ebi. She uses Ebi for hitting almost anything and anyone. Tomoka can use transformation magic, and continually engages Lisa in magic battles. She is also obsessed with Poyon, her favourite TV show character.
- Voiced by Ayaka Saito (Japanese)/J-Ray (English)
[edit] Minor characters
- Maharu Sena Kanaka (マハル・セナ・カナカ?), Miharu's older sister. She is very determined and has a hot temper, often reverting to violence to get her point across.
- Voiced by Sayaka Ohara (Japanese)/Karen Thompson (English)
- Ebi (えび?), Tomoka's pet. Ebi can be transformed into a small green-haired girl using Tomoka's transformation magic, and is referred to as female later. She can also shoot a powerful beam weapon (called the E-beam by Tomoka) from her mouth, and is used as a flail when Tomoka fights. Ebi can be very smart. During a Mahjong match, he actually thought through the entire play in his mind, but unfortunately Tomoka was a novice plus Ebi couldn't speak human language.
- Voiced by Tomoko Kaneda/Fumihiko Tachiki (Japanese)
- Hayate (疾風?), one of Lisa's attendants. He forms a strong rivalry/friendship with Tomoka.
- Voiced by Takanori Hoshino (Japanese)/Patrick Seitz (English)
- Kosame (小雨?), one of Lisa's attendants who develops a major crush on Kirie after a short battle with her.
- Voiced by Nozomi Masu (Japanese)/Robin Rhodpa (English)
- Mamoru Machida (町田守 Machida Mamoru?), a classmate of Yukinari's who is obsessed with cleanliness and dons an alter-ego, Mamo Ranger, in the pursuit of his passion.
- Voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino (Japanese)
- Lilica Stacy (梨々花・ステイジー Ririka Suteijī?), Kazuharu's maid.
- Voiced by Natsuko Kuwatani (Japanese)/Wendy Tomson (English)
- Nanae Kuh Haruka (ナナエ・クウ・ハルカ?), Koyomi and Tomoka's superior in the Space Travel Agency.
- Voiced by Yukiko Iwai (Japanese)
- Hijiri Kanata (彼方ヒジリ Kanata Hijiri?), Yukinari's teacher, who is very strict. She was actually a spy for Yukina to kidnap Miharu. Her goal was to be with Miharu forever, in return helping Yukina eliminate all men. When Kirie defeated her, she grew a crush on her and put her love for Kirie instead of Miharu.
- Voiced by Aya Hisakawa (Japanese)
- Yukina (ユキナ?) A resident of Serien who also has the power of Seikon like Miharu and Koyomi. She could be called the exact duplicate of Yukinari, but a girl with the illness being near men. In the end of the series, she has a crush on Yukinari since she doesn't get hives near him.
- Voiced by Sakura Nogawa (Japanese)
