Girl Anachronism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Girl Anachronism" is a song on The Dresden Dolls self-titled album from 2003. The song is short, raw, and played at a breakneck speed. The lyrics, alternately angry and apologetic, deal with Amanda Palmer as a "problem child", a trait which she blames on the fact that she was born a few days premature, by Caesarean section. As the song grows, the lyrics split into various sub-plots, all of which are related to feeling out of place or out of time.

In the Dresden Dolls Companion, Amanda mentions how "I always felt like the twenties or the sixties would have made more sense [to be born into]".

The video for this single was filmed in 2003 by Michael Pope.
