Giovanni Andrea Sirani (1610-1670) was a Bolognese painter of the Baroque period.
He is also now known as the father of the female painter, Elisabetta Sirani. Giovanni trained initially with Giacomo Cavedone, then worked in the studio with Guido Reni. Became entangled in various conspiracies circling around the death of his daughter in 1665. Giovanni accused a maid of poisoning her; others accuse Giovanni of causing her to develop a stomach ulcer from overwork.
