The Ginyu Saga (also known as the Captain Ginyu Saga) is the name for the roughly the middle third of the much larger Freeza Saga in Dragon Ball Z, according to FUNimation's naming conventions for the English language anime. It immediately follows the Namek Saga and is followed by the Freeza Saga.
Strictly speaking, the Ginyu Saga should start several episodes before it does. When speaking of the manga, most fans put the start of the saga at the arrival of the Ginyu Force.
Cartoon Network stated that Dragon Ball Z would be completely redone at the original airings of these episodes, FUNimation started using new voice actors since episode 54.
All major action in the Ginyu Saga takes place on the Planet Namek. This saga aired in Japan in 1990. It also aired in U.S.A in 1998.
This is part of US season three.
According to Kyle Hebert, the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition Season 2 boxset (coming out May 2007) is going to contain episodes from both the Namek and Ginyu Sagas. He is said that the Ginyu Saga will most likely be re-dubbed to keep up with the other episodes being released.

[edit] The Arrival of Ginyu
Continuing from where the Namek Saga left off, the well-rounded Jeice and the incredibly fast Burter attack Goku after he defeated (but not killed) Recoome. He defeats them with ease as well. Goku did what Vegeta could not and now Vegeta does what Goku could not, and kills the unconscious Burter and Recoome. Goku becomes upset with Vegeta saying that they should be shown mercy like Vegeta was, but Vegeta says that the Saiyan race is a race of warriors and that they will do anything to win. Meanwhile, Freeza and Ginyu are marveling at the gathered Dragonballs, but when they try to summon the Namekian Dragon, nothing seems to happen. Freeza comes to the conclusion that the Namekians have some kind of secret code to activate the Dragon Balls, and rushes to find any remaining Namekians with the new scouter that Ginyu brought him.
[edit] Goku vs. Captain Ginyu
Seeing all the members of the Ginyu force killed, Jeice runs away. Goku lets him go however, but this turns out to be a mistake when Jeice returns, with Ginyu at his side. Gohan and Kuririn leave and prepare to gather the Dragon Balls in Freeza's now unguarded spaceship. As Ginyu prepare to fight the two Sayians, Vegeta suddenly decides to run off, claiming that he'll kill Gohan and Kuririn and wish for immortality. Before Goku can stop him, Ginyu attacks him, and they begin the fight. Soon it is revealed that they are both holding back the bulk of their powers. When Ginyu makes Goku perform his Kaioken technique, Ginyu realizes that Goku is way stronger than he is, besting a power level of 120,000 to 180,000, where Goku was just using bursts of 60,000 to 90,000 power level attacks before. So he uses his trump card...he tricks Goku and eventually switches bodies with Goku using a specialized "Change" technique after weaking his own body by punching himself through the chest.
[edit] Goku(Ginyu) vs. Gohan and Krillin
Meanwhile, Krillin and Gohan go to Frieza's ship to find the Dragonballs so they can summon the Namekian Dragon. Vegeta catches up with them and hides so they can find the balls for him. But before they can, Jeice and Ginyu (in Goku's body) arrive on the scene. Not knowing about the change Krillin and Gohan come to greet him. Gohan senses that something isn't right about this "Goku" and comes to the conclusion that he is in fact an imposter. They begin to fight.
Soon Goku (in Ginyu's body) arrives and convinces Krillin and Gohan that they can defeat Captain Ginyu because he isn't used to Goku's body yet, and can only reach a power level of 23,000 maximum, although Goku in Ginyu's body has experienced an exponential power level decrease as well, degrading to 10,000. In the duking it out, they almost succeed but Jeice jumps in to help. Vegeta comes out of hiding to take on Jeice. He lies about being a Super Saiyan which scares Jeice and easily kills him.
[edit] Vegeta vs. Goku(Ginyu)
After being beaten to a pulp by Vegeta, Ginyu decides to switch bodies again. Only this time with Vegeta. When he is about to make the switch Goku jumps into the beam's range at the last second and gets his body back. Ginyu tries again, the beam was close to connecting with Vegeta, but Goku throws a frog into the beams path. Before anyone knows it Ginyu is trapped inside of the body of a frog.
Unfortunately, Goku, now back in his body was hurt badly. He is put in the rejuvenation chamber by Vegeta on Frieza's ship. The gang also takes the Dragonballs. While this is happening however, Frieza has gone to see the elder Namek using his new scouter. There he is confronted by Nail, and told that the Dragonballs can only last as long as the Great Elder (Saichoro) is alive.
