Gina Arnold
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gina Arnold is an infamous rock critic whose articles have appeared in Spin, Rolling Stone and various free weeklies. Her reviews have drawn the ire of many readers by being distinctively rambling and egocentric, though these qualities have been obsoleted by the advent of blogs.
She grew up in Palo Alto, California. While in high school, she read Creem magazine and Rolling Stone. For first year of college, she went attended UCLA and then later transferred to and went to UC Berkeley.
Consequently, her writing output has slowed, as of late. During her peak, she had written a book on '90s alternative zeitgeist entitled, Route 666: On the Road to Nirvana (which was followed by a sequel of sorts, Kiss This: Punk In The Present Tense), and was featured on a "Kill Gina Arnold" t-shirt famously worn by Breeders singer Kim Deal. As rock criticism has historically been a boy's club, it should be noted that Arnold, despite the reading public's lack of regard for her, is possibly the most prominent female rock critic in America.
