Surely there is some relationship between two drinks named after twisting tools: vodka and orange juice, or gin and lime...

[edit] Regarding Relation to Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette

I've read somewhere that the drink was named after Sir T.D. Gimlette, not because he invented it, but because he used the drink as a cure for malaria and scurvy during his time in the navy. Could anyone confirm/deny that?
