Gimsøy

Gimsøy is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It consisted mainly of the island Gimsøya, which is located in Lofoten between Austvågøya and Vestvågøya.

The municipality was created by a split from Vågan in 1856. At that time Gimsøy had a population of 987.

On 1 January 1964 Gimsøy was reunited with Vågan. Prior to the merger Gimsøy had a population of 1.551.
