Gilly Roach

Gilly Roach is a fictional character in long-running Channel 4 British television soap opera Hollyoaks. He is played by actor Anthony Quinlan.

Rhys Ashworth's best friend from school, Gilly can come off as a bit clueless at times, but he usually does the right thing.

After sneaking into a Halloween party at HCC, Gilly snogged Jessica Harris and assumed the role of her wannabe boyfriend. This led to him pretending to be a philosophy student just to get close to her and found a rival in Mark, Jessica's real boyfriend. The two battled for affections but things ended when Jessica couldn't decide between them. Gilly comes from Manchester and is a huge supporter of Manchester City much to the annoyance of Rhys who supports Manchester United. Gilly does temp jobs to pay for his stay with the Ashworths. Whenever someone tells Gilly that he needs to do something with his life, he also tells them that he's going traveling around the world, despite not actually doing anything to get the money for his travels because of his reluctance to get a proper job because it would interfere with his plans.

Gilly and Rhys come up with the idea of bringing a lapdancing club to Hollyoaks. New girl Anna comes to audition to be a lapdancer in there club and they both automatically fall for her. However, they've got competition as she takes a liking to geeky Elliot.. Another shock comes to Gilly as his brother, Liam comes to Hollyoaks with some very sad news about one of his close family members.

Gilly has a close relationship with the Ashworth family and might even consider them his own family. When Suzanne mistook Rhy's escort service card as being Neville's, Gilly seemed destraught that Suzanne would think Neville might be having an affair. When Neville's shop was being robbed he was almost beaten up by the rober. At Hannah's 18th birthday party he gave her an expensive necklace giving Hannah a better gift then Hannah's then boyfriend John-Paul McQueen. After Josh was dumped by his girlfriend Amy Barnes, Gilly (along with Rhy's) gave him advice on how to handle his heartbreak. Gilly suggesting Josh write his feelings into a song, this gave Josh the idea of winning back Amy by writing her a love song.

Gilly chose to spend Christmas with the Ashworth's rather than with his own mum.
