Gillotrope
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Gillotrope is a small hand-held mechanical musical instrument popular in East England in the 1880s. It is usually made of mahogany with steel and brass fittings. It makes a very distinctive sound, as based on those who have heard one.
The Music Hall song "Fanny's Gillotrope" was a hit around the same time and Sheet Music is known to exist.
Unfortunately the passing of time has made the Gillotrope a very hard item to find, the writer personally has been looking for one for over 20 years.
We hope this article will help reveal more information about this instrument.
