Gillette Cup New Zealand Secondary Schools Cricket

Gillette Cup is the name given to the New Zealand Secondary Schools boys one day cricket competition. The competition begins as a knock-out competition until the top school in each of seven regional zones is determined. Traditionally these schools played knock-out games to determine the top four schools. These schools then contested the finals held in Palmerston North in December. However in 2006 the rules were changed to make the final an 8 team event. Each regional zone winner will attend the final, apart from Northern and Central Districts which have two finalists as they were the regions with the most entries. The Gillette Cup was first played in 1990.
