Giles Barnes, (born August 5, 1988 in Barking), is an English footballer. He signed for Derby County in August 2005 as a trainee and became a regular first-team choice in midfield.

Barnes made his debut late in the 2005/2006 season, whilst Derby were under the guide of Terry Westley. He was in and out of the side before scoring his first goal, a fine strike against Norwich City.

During pre-season, only weeks before the beginning of the 2006/2007 season, Barnes signed a 4-year extension to his current contract, in order to allay the fears of some Rams fans that he may leave the club.

In the 2006/07 season he became a regular in the side. He scored a tremendous volley away at Cardiff in the 92nd minute to equalise; four days later he scored a brace of great goals to earn a win at Pride Park against Barnsley; three days after that, he scored the winner at home to West Bromwich Albion.

His manager, Billy Davies, has made it clear that he is keen to keep Barnes at Pride Park.

Barnes has quickly become a fans favourite at Pride Park, often wowing the fans with his showboating skills and blinding pace.
