Gilbert Ralston

Gilbert Alexander Ralston (wrote under the name Stephen Gilbert) was born in 1912 in Newcastle, County Down, UK and died in 1999 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA. He worked as a reporter for The Northern Whig newspaper, and then later joined his father's seed sale business in Ireland. He wrote many science and anatomy books about animals. Ratman's Notebooks was his only fiction novel, published in 1969, which later was the basis for the film Willard and its sequels. In the 50s and 60s he worked as writer for many television series.
