From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gilead, pronounced "gi-lee-ed is a city in the book Eragon.

Gilead was a army staging point in Eragon (according to Murtagh). Galbatorix has a prison there where Eragon was held after his capture by Durza until being rescued by Murtagh and Saphira. Arya was also brought to Gil'ead after being captured by the Shade Durza.

Eragon went there seeking a man named Dormnad who supposedly knew the way to the Varden. However,a person who knew Murtagh saw and recognized him, supposedly telling a soldier of Galbatorix's. Urgals, led by Durza, attacked that night and kidnapped Eragon, who is freed by Murtagh and Saphira. Murtagh shoots Durza between the eyes in the process, making him disappear, but return stronger than ever(according to Ajihad) in Tronjheim, after Eragon duels and is defeated by the Shade. Arya is also rescued in the process. Template:Fictional Locations Places in Inheritance troligy
