Gideon Ezra

Gideon Ezra (born June 30, 1937) is a member of the Israeli Knesset and is a minister in the government.

Ezra was born in Jerusalem. He served in the Israeli Defense Force in the years 1955-1958 in the Nahal.

Between the years 1962-1995 he served in the Shabak. He then entered the private serctor and worked for "Ituran", an Israeli company.

In 1996 he was elected to the Knesset as part of the Likud party.

With the formation of Ariel Sharon's new party, Kadima, he left the Likud and joined it. He served as Minister of Internal Security under Sharon's prime ministership, and as of May 4, 2006, will be serving as Minister of Environmental Affairs in Ehud Olmert's government.
