[edit] Character history

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

He originally pushes for the Elders to allow Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt to get married, but once Wyatt is born, Gideon's attitude toward the couple changes drastically. He fears that all of the power that Wyatt possesses will cause him to turn evil and become an unstoppable threat.

Gaining the sisters' confidence, Gideon uses his position as a friend of the family to get close to Wyatt and hires a team of darklighters to get Leo out of the way.

He conspires with his evil counterpart in a parallel dimension to distract both the good and evil Charmed Ones so that he might kill Wyatt.[2] The sisters discover his plan in time and stop him, but only temporarily. Conspiring with Barbas who uses his powers to distract the sisters and Leo, Gideon manages to kidnap Wyatt, killing Chris in the process.

Angered by his son's death, Leo tracks Gideon down in the Underworld and kills him.[2] While this is happening, he curses Leo saying that he doesn't realize what he is doing and that Wyatt has to die to prevent him from turning evil and becoming a great threat. In response, Leo counters it is Gideon kidnapping Wyatt that forces him to turn bad in the first place, having to protect himself from being killed every day and being away from his family.[2]

Spoilers end here.
