[edit] History
Giddy-up, Helicopter! is a Tampa-based band that formed in mid-2005[1]. They played their first show two hours after they met for their first practice. After scaring half of the "acoustic open mic night" fans away they received requests for albums and future shows. The five-piece, which draws inspiration from bands such as Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Pinback, At The Drive-In and various other indie/shoegazer bands, has drawn fans from the Tampa Bay area as well as places as varied as Chicago, Germany, and even Japan! They practice in a warehouse in Florida with no air conditioning and have played shows with bands like The Warlocks, Everything Now!, Theo and the Skyscrapers, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's and Silversun Pickups. Giddy-up, Helicopter! released a demo in 2005 and now have a record coming out in April, entitled "I am Secretary."

[edit] The Future?
Giddy-up, Helicopter! has received press from Creative Loafing, Tampa Bay Tribune[2] and gets extensive airplay on college radio stations and internet stations (such as lastfm.com). They're currently planning a tour of East Coast cities, as well as recording songs for their next EP. CMJ music festival accepted them to play in New York but then took it back; they now want revenge and a solid summer tour.
