And injuries and dummyness pursues . . . -- Carlos 17:19, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- Does much more need to be said than this? (other than "does insurance cover that?") --0x845FED 04:52, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
That is what is known as a Redneck Rollercoaster, an activity done at much higher speeds and (in origin) distantly related to the Bay Area's ghostriding Nofrendo 08:56, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
Shouldn't the title be "ghost ride the whip"?
What instances are there of someone using solely the term "ghost ride" without "the whip"?
- Me and my friends used to "ghost ride" our bikes by getting them up to speed and then jumping off of them and that was like 10-15 years ago. I doubt we came up with term. Recury 04:02, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
I am a 24 year old accountant and i must say that i really enjoy ghostriding the whip. I live about 3000 miles from the Yay Area but the videos have inspired me to ghost ride whips in my spare time. I began my ghostriding hobby by starting off at slow speeds in open areas and have soon advanced to such faster speeds and more dangerous residential steets or highways. I enjoy ghostriding other whips such as a large dump truck, a sports car, or a friends 1992 Ford Van that has excellent alignment. I mainly do it for the crowd and their applause. My advice for future ghostriders is that "Allignment is KEY". Check the allignment before you climb out of your sun-roof and begin to do sit-ups on the roof of your un-occupied moving car. Rememeber to practice your moves first in a car while its not moving, therefore you will have some sort of "gameplan" and what moves you will be doing and how to properly execute the "ghost ride". Turn up the volume of the speakers to a high decible level so people hear you, I prefer to play the song "Tell me when to go" by E-40. Make sure you have designated areas of the vehicle in which you will place your hands and feet when crawling out of the moving car. Pay close attention to where you are danceing on the hood and make sure the hood is dry and clear of any debris, I'd hate to slip and fall in front of the car and have it run you over. Always make sure that you have valid auto insurance incase something goes arong and the whip rolls over a hillside and plows a few people or parked cars.
Last but not least, don't listen to people when they say ghost-riding is stupid, retarted or a hazard to your health. Tell them "Don't mock it till you tried it." -Dexter Luteki 8-31-06
Paging Dexter Luteki - You spelled retarded wrong. Please correct your grammatical errors at once. Thank you for your attention to this matter. -theoriginalmolldoll 8/31/06
I found it strange that my small edit concerning the Volvo in the YouTube video was edited out... The car in the video is definitely not a Volvo 850, but a larger, RWD model which is either a 940 or a 960, depending of the engine size. -p00blyk
Agreed - I can't tell exactly what kind of volvo, but I own an 850 and that is not one in the video. -judd
[edit] vandalism
as funny as it is, i removed this: "However, this account for the longest ghost ride was only second best. All accounts of ghost riding come second to when Danny Sacks ghost rode a hot air balloon on June 6, 2006, but shortly died a month later after an attempt at riding a helicopter on July 19, 2006. He came back from the dead on July 25, 2006, to fulfill his prophecy as Jesus." and cleaned up the article.
This is got to be the coolest pages on Wikipedia, That is a great bit of Vandalism thanks for Sharing, and keep Ghost Riding the whip! Max 05:14, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] civil war origination?
"It was an act in which a slave owner would whip their slave as he was pulling a load in a wagon. Sometimes they danced around them, to much applause."
[edit] Legal issues?
Is it possible for a person to face criminal charges over ghost riding, even if it doesn't result in any injuries or damage? The current version of the article doesn't make this clear. Redeagle688 21:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
