[edit] Plot

In a park, a little boy in the tree reaches out for his Frisbee. Ben and Gwen come by and Ben transforms into Wildmutt. He climbs up the tree to help out the little boy, and Wildmutt tells him not to be afraid. Suddenly, in Ghostfreak’s voice, the boy tells him that he wants to be brought out. His appearance changes, and Ghostfreak appears in front of him, telling him to get him out. Wildmutt falls, but returns to reality, as Ben was only dreaming a nightmare.

As Ben looks out the window sleeplessly, Gwen tries to catch his attention. He tells them that he’s just bothered by the strange dream he had recently. Gwen tells the reason why he’s had the strange dream. Ben grabs the brochure of Bancroft Academy that Gwen was reading away. It seems that she wants to go to this school, and tells Ben that he better not embarrass her in front of the staff and students that may ruin her application.

At the academy, they are given a tour of the campus. The student explains how much the prep school is known for their expectations and reputation, and Gwen tells her some examples that she is Bancroft material. The tour guide doesn’t seem to be satisfied about much of her accomplishments. While they continue on the tour, Ben is bothered by the voice again, and something in the sky zooms past the school flags. His attention is caught by the tour guide, and asks if he has any questions.

They continue on the tour, and this time, Ghostfreak appears again, replacing Ben’s shadow on the wall. This continues to freak him out, though he thinks that he just needs some rest, that’s all. They enter an indoor science classroom, and Gwen is astounded by the high-tech equipment available. Ben searches the room, and he notices Ghostfreak once again in a grayish-fluid filled beaker, and this causes Ben to knock it down. The three are astounded by his mysterious behavior lately, and Gwen tries to cover up his misbehavior. The tour guide tells Gwen that it will not look very good on her application, right after the emergency sprinklers come on and go directly on her.

Thumbskull, Frightwig, and Acid Breath seems to be in the premises, and they aim to make a profit with the school’s gigantic trophy. A guard comes in telling the three that they should not be in the area without an escort. Outside, Gwen’s escort has been angered by Ben’s behavior, and it seems to Gwen that she knows that she won’t be getting in at all. Gwen was ready to hit the daylights out of Ben, but he was saved by a crash sound coming from the auditorium.

Ben comes in to see the glass display case shattered, and he enters inside the building. Inside, the trio who took the trophy away has been pulling jokes on the poor hall monitor. It seems that they remembered about their last encounter when they were with Zombozo. Ben intended to transform into Heatblast, but the Omnitrix transforms him into Ghostfreak in a mysterious way. They attack, though they seem to be unfamiliar of his ability to fade through objects. Grandpa Max and Gwen find that Ghostfreak is fighting them in a vicious way, and Gwen heads up to tell him off. Ghostfreak comes up, and tells her that Ben is not there. He laughs and ends up being hit by a punch bag. Apparently, he is unharmed, and Ghostfreak runs after the three. In pursue of them, the Omnitrix readies to deactivate, and Ghostfreak seems to act even more mysteriously. At first, Ben is the only one to be seen, though in the most unknown speculations, Ghostfreak is in front of him, and he says that he is “glad” to meet Ben in person.

Ghostfreak in front of Ben, reveals his true self. His appearance brings fear unto Ben. He has claws, and his whole body appears to be in the process of decay. His tentacles are also visible where they were, and his head is upside down, resembling a deformed human skull, only that he has one eye, and his teeth protrude all the way out. He tells him that he must become complete in order to try and take over, so he decides to mend with Ben’s body, combining with his DNA, as well as the other aliens in the Omnitrix. Ghostfreak tries to grab a hold of his head, though the sunlight seems to burn his flesh, causing him to backup into the shadows. Grandpa Max then comes up behind him, telling him that he’s just seen a ghost or something, though it is true after gazing upon an alien who used to be a part of him.

Ghostfreak finds a tuba player, and decides to mend with his body. He figures out that he can use them as hosts so that he doesn’t get affected by the sunlight. Ben becomes busy looking for Ghostfreak, and Grandpa Max and Gwen seem to believe his story about the incident with Ghostfreak, though it seems a bit strange how an alien can simply come out of the Omnitrix. As Ghostfreak said to Ben, that the race of ectonurites have the mysterious ability to retain their personality and will to the tiniest strands of DNA. Ben says that the best time to look for Ghostfreak would be during the night, and Grandpa Max seems to have some things to bring along to help with the search.

In a hut, the circus freaks discuss in how to make some money, though it seems that they are afraid of Ben. The boy comes in speaking in Ghostfreak’s voice, declaring that they are his minions now, he walks in, and his appearance to them makes them laugh. So, Ghostfreak releases himself out of the boy and shows his true self to them. Thumbskull asks what would happen if they declined his offer. He mends with his body and demonstrates what he would do. Acid Breath and Frightwig immediately go with his request, after seeing what he just did.

The day passes by, and the Tennysons have been busy looking for Ghostfreak all day. Grandpa Max finally picks up spectral activity, and Ben intends to transform into Four Arms, which happens that he became him without malfunction. The circus freaks head out of the schools main building, and they have a student captive. Ghostfreak releases himself out of Acid Breath, and he heads toward Four Arms, attempting to merge with his body, though with no luck. However, he does know when to do it. Grandpa Max then brings out another weapon of his own, and shoots at Ghostfreak. The Sun Gun as Max calls it, shoots a beam of light as bright as the sun. Ghostfreak is amused by their tactics thus far, but when he merges with a host body, he is unaffected. As Thumbskull, he heads towards Four Arms and attacks, though Four Arms has the advantage here. Acid Breath heads in to help, but he ends up being knocked out. With no choice, Ghostfreak heads into Frightwig, and he throws away the girl, and she was lucky enough that Gwen was there to catch her. Four Arms continues to demonstrate his strength, and his hosts are not capable of battling him.

To make it more interesting, he chooses Gwen to mend with, and Four Arms has no choice but to fight. Her skills in jiujutsu make it handy for Ghostfreak, though his strength is still enough to stop him. He knocks the body into the wall, and Ghostfreak returns Gwen’s will back to her, as if she was the one to be hurt, seeing that Four Arms is attacking her, Ghostfreak regains control, and climbs up the wall. Four Arms and Grandpa Max follow. They reach the top, but unfortunately, the Omnitrix discharges, and Ghostfreak knows that it is time to meld. Grandpa Max hands Ben the Sun Gun. But Ben thinks of another idea. Should he drop the weapon and let Ghostfreak meld with him, or let Gwen jump off the roof and eventually kill her?

Ghostfreak continues to make threats to Ben, but he eventually drops the weapon. The circus freaks come up as well, and Ghostfreak orders his minions to attack Grandpa Max and Gwen. Ben is angered why he did not go along with his side of the bargain. Ghostfreak said that the deal was only for himself, not for his minions. So, Ghostfreak attempts to meld with Ben, and the Omnitrix reacts, recharging just in time. Ghostfreak realizes that he probably combined with Ben, but sure enough, he spits out Grey Matter, unable to become one with him. Grey Matter jumps into the gang, making them attack and humiliate themselves. The distraction makes Gwen and Max leave, while Grey Matter heads inside the school’s bell tower. Ghostfreak goes after Grey Matter while his minions go after Grandpa Max and Gwen.

In the kitchen, Grandpa Max and Gwen hide from them. Max notices that Thumbskull is busy eating from the fridge, so he decides to find another way. Unfortunately, Max’s reflection was shown when he closed the door, and he goes after him. Max heads to a dead end, but he was lucky enough to throw him into the room and close it. Gwen hides also, and she finds Acid Breath. Acid Breath readies to release the toxin, but she uses the nearby fire extinguisher to shoot it right into his mouth. She then uses a pan to knock him out. Frightwig comes along and constricts her, but Grandpa Max was in time to trap her in a barrel of grease.

Meanwhile, Grey Matter has problems of his own. He tries to hide from Ghostfreak, and to make it worse, he transforms back into Ben. With a final confrontation, Ben sees the sunlight, and he pulls the curtains down, causing Ghostfreak to disintegrate and vanish, never to be seen again. Ben is relieved.

Gwen realizes that she’ll never make it inside Bancroft Academy, but Ben says that she’s better off without the school. She is happy that Ben gave her a compliment. Ben is grossed out for a moment, but realizes that its better to make his cousin happy rather than quarreling with her all day.
