Ghostbusters was released by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1990. It is unrelated to the earlier Activision game, and is instead a straightforward platform game in which the player takes control of squat cartoon representations of three of the four Ghostbusters from the movie, with the noticeable absence of Winston Zeddemore.
[edit] Story
Ghostbusters takes place between Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2, and the Ghostbusters are down on their luck. Random calls begin to pour in from around the city, including the eventual reappearance of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. After each case, a piece of a medallion is collected. After four cases, the Ghostbusters notice the PKE level has spiked in the city. After the final call, two of the Ghostbusters (the two you are not playing) are captured by a crazy scientist, and you must rescue them from a castle the scientist has trapped them in. By the time that happens, a hole breaks open in the city, and you must save New York once again from total destruction.
