Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is based on two books, Ghost Dogs of Whispering Oaks and Mystery by Moonlight. This is the seventh game in the series of Nancy Drew computer games. The heroine of the books, and the computer game, is called Nancy Drew. The game was released in 2002.
Sally McDonald has run away because every night, a pack of ghost dogs who has glowing eyes and mournful howls, which were believed to be owned by a gangster named Mickey Malone, were attacking her house, as he was a previous owner of the house. There is a rumor in the area that Malone had gold buried on his property. In the game, Nancy attempts to find out who is using the ghost dogs to scare away the owner he or she can look for the gold.

Sally McDonald - Sally was the one who asked Nancy to solve the case.
Red Knott - Red is a misanthropic birdwatcher who works mainly at night.
Emily Griffen - Emily is the friendly owner of a store at Moon Lake and seems to know everyone.
Jeff Akers - Ranger Akers is the only ranger at Moon Lake. He loves to ticket people and is related to William Akers, a man Malone always trusted in finding gold. His father is Joe Akers.
