Gholam Hossein Banan

Gholam Hossein Banan (May , 1911 - February 29, 1986) was a Persian musician and singer. He was born into a musical family, son of a pianist mother and musician/calligrapher father, and brother to sisters who learned to play the tar by the renowned musician Morteza Ney Davood.
Ney Davood learned quickly that young Banan was a talented musician, and began to encourage him to sing. When he was twelve years old, Banan was sent to a series of instructors, including Mirza Taher Ziad-al-Zakern and Nasser Seif. Ali Naghi Vaziri later introduced him to the acclaimed Ruhollah Khaleghi.
Banan joined the Iranian National Music Association in 1942, and appeared on Iranian National Radio that same year. He then joined the orchestra of the famous pianist Javad Maroufi, becoming lead vocalist.
Banan died in 1986, and is still well-remembered by many Iranian music fans. Among his well-remembered songs are Ey Iran and Elahe-ye Naz.
