Geumgang University is a South Korean Buddhist university located in the countryside, under the shadow of Gyeryong Mountain, near Wonsan and between Nonsan and Daejeon, Republic of Korea. The campus is within the administrative boundaries of Nonsan's Sangwol-myeon district.
The university was founded in 2004. Although classes are held and a regular course program is offered, construction is still taking place. This school aims to be an elite institution, taking only students with the highest qualify scores. There is no tuition fee, and housing is provided free of charge. Students of all faiths or none are equally accepted.
Courses are offered in schools: School of Buddhist Studies & Social Welfare, School of International Trade & Public Administration, and School of General Studies.
The university offers a sixteen-week intensive course in Korean language and culture.
It has a student exchange program with the University of the West , a Buddhist-founded university in the United States.
