Getmetickets.net
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Getmetickets.net is a British owned company that trades in sold-out tickets. Get Me Tickets claims to charge premium prices for "hard-to-get" tickets at "sold out" events anywhere in the UK & Ireland. However, they have been accused of fraud for selling tickets that they do not own [1].
They have been accused of charging unfair prices for hard-to-get tickets that are not actually in their possession. One of the owners of getmetickets.net, Michael Rangos, has been in a series of court battles between individuals, local governments and trading standards. Last year the company was fined £4,250 by trading standards for the mis-selling of tickets to a Cliff Richard concert. Cliff said this about Mr Michael Rangos: "I think that he's being manipulative, I think he's extortionate and I think he's a very mean man doing this to people".
There has recently been controversy when getmetickets.net promised buyers seats at Robbie Williams concerts before the dates had even been announced.
Although the company has been widely publicised as fraudulent, search engines such as Google still have them as a sponsored link.
As of 6 February 2006 Getmetickets.net has been wound up in the public interest by the Insolvency Service following an investigation by the Department of Trade and Industry. The petition to wind up the company will be heard by a court on 22 March 2006.
Rangos launched another Online Ticket Agency, Ticket Tout. However, as of 10th March 2007, that has gone into administration.
