Geshe Rabel

Geshe Rabel is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Located at the eastern edge of the Ethiopian highlands in the Semien Shewa Zone, Geshe Rabel is bordered on the south by the Gera Midira Keya Gebriel, on the west and north by the Debub Wollo Zone, and on the east by Antsokiyana Gemza. The major town in Geshe Rabel is Rabel.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 69,506, of whom 35,255 were males and 34,251 were females; 1,934 or 2.78% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.8%. With an estimated area of 662.97 square kilometers, Geshe Rabel has an estimated population density of 104.8 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 134.37.[1]
