Geschwaderkommodore is a Luftwaffe position (not rank) that is the equivalent of a Royal Air Force Group Commander or USAF Wing Commander. A Geschwaderkommodore is usually of Oberstleutnant or Oberst rank. A Geschwaderkommodore will command a Geschwader, which in turn contains a number of Gruppen commanded by a Gruppenkommandeur.
