- Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons: for now, we should be safe by this because all the information came from material written by Dr. Kim himself and posted online; he also includes his birthday in those materials, so I don't see anything wrong with including it here
- Wikipedia:Notability (academics): I'm satisfied that Dr. Kim meets these criteria since he's a widely known scholar in his field, and the first site that comes up if you google for "koryo saram" consists of translations into English of a lot of his papers by a Fulbright scholar who worked under him.
