German Londoño
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
German Londoño is a Colombian artist from Medellín. He is perhaps after Fernando Botero the most well-known of Colombian contemporary artists. He is mostly known as a painter but recently has begun sculpting. His flair and youthful approach sets him apart from the older Botero. His exhibits have appeared in Paris and New York.
Londoño's upbringing and indigent homeland are reflected in his paintings. One of Londoño's masterpieces is a sketch called "Looking at the Stars".
Though he is an international artist, he has kept his home in Colombia.
He greatly enjoyed his time painting and reflecting at University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was a visiting artist.
He has a unique way of living which is reflected in his art style and wisdom.
He is currently working on a collection called "Memorias del Mar" or Memories of the Sea, mostly predominated by the use of various shades of blue, which give a truly soothing effect to his masterpieces.
He self named his representation of the human anatomy as "Neo-Egipcia-Colombiana" or Neo-Egyptian-Colombian.
For many critics he is on his way to be the most renown contemporary artist in South America.
He began studying art aged 12 at Libe de Zulategui's Workshop "Galeria El Taller" In Medellín, Colombia.
The author that he recalls as the most influential to his life is Picasso, yet the mild influence of others such as Matisse are irrefutable indeed.
