Gérald Métroz, born in 1962 in Martigny, Switzerland, had his life change drastically in 1964, losing both of his legs, when he was hit by train at the train station of his home town in Sembrancher, Switzerland. Despite his tragic fate, he has made an adventure of his life. His determination to become socially and career independent, surrounded by supportive friends and his love of sport brought him to ultimately to participate in the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta. He is president and founder of his company GMSC (Gérald Métroz Sports Consulting). He has been a sport journalist, Hockey Club president, hockey coach and author of several books about international ice hockey. His life experience, enthusiasm, books and documentary films have made Gérald Métroz a popular public speaker at conferences and presentations. In his book, "Soudain un train" published by Verlag Autrement (Paris 2001), the author Jacques Briod unveils the personality, charisma, leadership and motivational qualities of Gérald Métroz. His extraordinary destiny and life achievements have become well documented with interest and detail by the Swiss and international media. In April 2006, his life has been presented in a documentary movie shot by Jean-François Amiguet under the title :"Gerald Metroz, Isn't Life Beautiful?".
