Talk:George Coulthard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Coulthard was the colonial equivalent of a Brownlow medallist. i.e. the best and fairest footballer in the most elite Aussie Rules competition. To have played Test cricket as well, is wonderful. And then to have been a Test Cricket umpire, and to have done so, before he made his Test playing debut is amazing. I suppose it was a thing a person could do in those times, which would be absolutely impossible today, more's the pity!
[edit] Football career
I added details of his football career which were sadly lacking. I inserted an AFL Footballer Infobox and moved the pic to that Infobox. My rationale being that the pic is actually taken from a poster of top Victorian footballers of 1884 (strange given his career finished in 1882!), and I felt the pic belonged with the sport it represented. Having moved the pic I then moved the football Infobox to the top so the pic is prominent. Hope noone is offended. Cheers. Pudgey 11:30, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
