[edit] History
On April 14, 1995, the Georgia and Florida Railroad began operations on the following lines that it had acquired from Norfolk Southern:[1]
- Moultrie lines - Ganor, Georgia to Schley Junction, Georgia and Norman Junction, Georgia to Moultrie, Georgia
- Valdosta-Nashville line - Valdosta, Georgia to Nashville, Georgia
- Camilla line - 2.3 miles (3.7 km) in Camilla, Georgia
- Sparks line (leased from NS) - Albany, Georgia to Sparks, Georgia
On May 1, 1999, Georgia and Florida RailNet began operations on the following lines, which it had acquired from Gulf and Ohio Railways:[2] Presumably, in between, Gulf and Ohio took over the Georgia and Florida Railroad.
- Albany Bridge - 3470 feet (1058 m) over a bridge in Albany, Georgia
- Adel-Foley Line - Adel, Georgia to Foley, Florida
- Valdosta-Nashville Line - Valdosta, Georgia to Nashville, Georgia
- Moultrie-Schley Junction Line - Moultrie, Georgia to Schley Junction, Georgia
- Norman Junction Line - Norman Junction, Georgia to Moultrie, Georgia
- Thomasville-Camilla Line - Thomasville, Georgia to Camilla, Georgia
- Presumably the Sparks Line as well, though that's not in the list from the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board
The following lines were not yet part of the railroad, but are now:
- Albany, Georgia to Sylvester, Georgia
- Camilla, Georgia to Thomasville, Georgia
- Nashville, Georgia to Willacoochee, Georgia
The railroad was purchased from North American RailNet by OmniTRAX of Denver, Colorado, on April 1, 2005.
