Deputy Assistant Commissioner Georgia Hobbs was a character in the long-running ITV cop drama The Bill. She was played by Kazia Pelka.

In 1999 Georgia transferred to the Metropolitan police as Superintendent and requested a tough, inner-London operational posting. She was promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2000, attended her senior command course in 2001, before moving up to Commander in 2002 and Deputy Assistant Commissioner in 2004. She was also Chair of the MPS Association of Senior Women Officers, and an active mentor.

Fiercely independent Georgia didn't want to buy into the institution of marriage – she was already institutionalised from the job. Nonetheless she liked to kick back with uncomplicated affairs.

[edit] Corruption

Towards the end of 2006 Scotland Yard announced that they were to close one of Canleys three police stations. Around the same time Canley Borough Council decided that they were going to redevelop the Aldborne Estate. One the day that the evictions started Sgt. June Ackland and Inspector Gina Gold discovered that the man behind the redevolopment was bribing council officials to accpet the proposal and blackmailing Georgia with proof of her corruption unless she helps him be released. Georgia turned to her lover Superintendent John Heaton for help, but unbeknownst to her he was recording the conversation, as she adimmited to ensuring that Sun Hill Police Station closed down, and promising him the land. John handed the tape over the Directorate of Professional Standards who later arrested her.
