Georgia's 10th congressional district

Georgia's 10th congressional district is located in northeastern Georgia, and includes the cities of Athens, Evans, Augusta, Watkinsville, and Toccoa.
Charlie Norwood was elected to represent the 10th District in the 110th Congress on November 7, 2006. Due to Norwood's death on February 13, 2007, however, this office is currently vacant.[1]

[edit] Special election 2007
A special election to fill the seat vacated upon the death of Charlie Norwood will be held on June 19, 2007[2]. There are currently 13 announced candidates for the special election (6 as Republicans, 6 as Democrats, 1 as a Libertarian).
This district is historically very conservative, and is generally expected to be retained by the Republicans.[3]
