George Way of Plean

George Way of Plean is the Procurator Fiscal of the Court of the Lord Lyon in Scotland. He has held that position since 12th February 2003. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and senior partner with the law firm of Beveridge and Kellas SCC.

He holds a Convenorship on the Council of the Law Society of Scotland and is President of the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland as well as being a member of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem and a Companion of the Order of Malta. He is also a member of the Baronage of Scotland as the Baron of Plean in the County of Stirling. He has numerous foreign decorations including the Order of St.Maurice and St.Lazarus, The California State Service Medal, and the Treu und Verdienst Kreuz. Way of Plean has previously served as Secretary to the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs but had to stand down from this post in order to carry out his duties as Procurator Fiscal impartially. In addition to his specialist work in peerage and heraldic law he has deep interest in judicial procedure. He holds the honorary rank of Lt. Colonel as an external adviser to the California State Military Reserve on Court Martial procedure.

His published works include Collins Scottish Clan and Family Encyclopaedia, Everyday Scots Law, Scottish Clans and Tartans and The Homelands of the Clans.
