George Ross (baseball)

George Sidney Ross (June 27, 1892 - April 22, 1935) was Major League Baseball pitcher who appeared in one game for the New York Giants in 1918. A native of San Rafael, California, the 26-year-old rookie left-hander stood 5'10 1/2" and weighed 175 lbs.
His major league debut took place on June 27, 1918...his 26th birthday. He appeared in relief against the Boston Braves at Braves Field and pitched 2.1 scoreless innings. The Giants won the game, 10-4.
The Giants manager at the time was future Hall of Famer John McGraw. Notable teammates included Jim Thorpe and Ross Youngs.
Ross passed away at the age of 42 in Amityville, New York.
