George Poindexter

George Poindexter (1779 – September 5, 1853) was an American politician.

He served as the Governor of Mississippi from 1820 to 1822 and was a U.S. Senator from Mississippi from 1830 to 1835. He served as the president pro tempore of the Senate during the Twenty-third Congress, from June 28 to November 30, 1834.

He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi.
