George Palmer was a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. He was played by Paul Moriarty.
George was a dodgy dealer who owned an illegal gambling den known as The Market Cellar. His daughter Annie also lived in the Square.
George was engaged to Peggy Mitchell, but she dumped him when her son Phil told her about his illegal activities. He then flew to New Zealand, but returned and started a romance with widow Rosa di Marco, and they eventually got engaged.
It emerged that he had had an affair with Rosa years before moving to Albert Square, when her husband Giuseppe was in prison, which put doubt in Rosa's mind about who fathered her son Gianni. A DNA test confirmed George was not the father.
George then broke off the engagement and went back to New Zealand. He has not been seen since.
