George Maitland Lloyd Davies
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
George Maitland Lloyd Davies (1880-1949), was a Welsh pacifist and member of parliament for the University of Wales.
Davies, who had been imprisoned during World War I for his beliefs, was the grandson of a noted Welsh preacher, John Jones (Talysarn). George's brother, John Glyn Davies, was a poet and author.
After losing the University of Wales seat to Ernest Evans in 1924, Davies became a Calvinistic Methodist (Presbyterian) minister. In 1939, he became President of the anti-war organisation, Heddychwyr Cymru.
