George Lewis is a broadcast journalist at NBC News. He appears on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.

According to an NBC News press release posted at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3688780/

"George Lewis is one of NBC News' most honored correspondents. The winner of three Emmys, the George Foster Peabody and Edward R. Murrow awards, he is no stranger to world crises."

NBC says that Lewis, born in 1943, joined the network in 1970 as a Vietnam war correspondent. During his career, he also covered the 1989 Tiananmen Square revolt in China, Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979.

Based in Los Angeles, Lewis regularly reports on the revolution in information technology. In 1993, he did a Nightly News series called "Almost 2001", that marked the beginning of interactive electronic exchanges between TV networks and their viewers. Those watching the reports were urged to send e-mails, some of which were read on the air. It was the first time most viewers heard news anchors use the term "dot-com."
