From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

George Hueu Sanford Kanahele (1930 - 15 September 2000) was a Hawaiian activist and historian and founder of the Native Hawaiian Tourism and Hospitality Association. Despite being a valuable part of the Hawaiian activism movement, some of his ideas are controversial, such as his argument that native Hawaiians should embrace Hawaiʻi's tourism. Kanahele graduated from Kamehameha Schools, Brigham Young University Hawaiʻi, and Cornell University.[1] He published several books during his life relating to Hawaiian culture and history.[2]
