George Derby (baseball)

George Derby (July 6, 1857 - July 4, 1925) was a former professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher over parts of three seasons (1881-1883) with the Detroit Wolverines and Buffalo Bisons. He was the National League strikeout champion as a rookie in 1881 with the Detroit. For his career, he compiled a 48-56 record in 110 appearances, with a 3.01 ERA and 428 strikeouts.
He was born in Webster, Massachusetts and later died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the age of 67.
