[edit] Genetic screen v. Genetic screening
I am not quite sure that the section on Genetic Screening should be in this article, rather than merged into the article on Genetic testing, where it is already largely covered. My view is that Genetic screen has a precise scientific meaning, that is the creation and selection of mutant individuals with a particular phenotype, with a view to identifying the genes involved in particular processes. Genetic screening on the other hand does not involve creating mutants and is done for medical purposes rather than for the scientific purpose of finding new genes, or new roles for known genes. I am not a human geneticist however rather a model organism geneticist so this may reflect my misunderstanding of the terminology of the field. Please let me know what you think. - I agree. I created the section before I knew about the genetic testing article. Go ahead and merge and maybe have a link to genetic testing if people come to genetic screen by mistake. David D. (Talk) 21:44, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
