Genzō Wakayama

Genzō Wakayama (若山弦蔵 Wakayama Genzō) is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and disc jockey. Born on September 27, 1932 in Karafuto, he moved to Sapporo as a youth and graduated from high school there.

Active in cinema, he provided the voice for Sean Connery as James Bond in Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and Never Say Never Again and in the 1999 film The Rock.

As a disc jockey, Wakayama hosted a program on TBS Radio from 1973 to 1995 that ran for 5,700 installments.

Wakayama also narrated over 800 episodes of the television jidaigeki Abarenbo Shogun from 1978 to 2003.

Other roles include Long John Silver in an animated version of Treasure Island; Demaon in a Doraemon OVA, Nobita no Makai Daibōken; Zeus in the 1999 film Hercules; and DiZ in the RPG video game Kingdom Hearts II.
