Genjiro Arato (荒戸 源次郎, Arato Genjirō?, born October 10, 1946, in Nagasaki, Japan) is a Japanese film producer, actor and director. In 1980, he produced Zigeunerweisen with director Seijun Suzuki. When all exhibitors declined the film he exhibited it himself in a specially built inflatable mobile dome. The film was nominated for 9 Japanese Academy Awards and won 4, including Best Picture, and was voted the best Japanese film of the 1980s by Japanese critics.[1]
